My Personal Images Are Often Similar But Unlike Yours
We all carry within us a library of images that influence our thinking and our actions. These are also referred to as symbols. These images and symbols are stored in the unconscious mind and many images are stored just below the surface of awareness. You have only to think of an animal out in nature like a fox or a rabbit and ask yourself what does this image mean to you. For instance when you think of a fox, do you think of a sly animal? When you think of a rabbit do you think of carrots?
Becoming aware of your personal imagery can be very useful for gaining a deeper understanding of your own mind. Pictures are said to be the language of the unconscious mind. And because the unconscious mind is the part of the mind that keeps your heart beating and your lungs breathing without conscious effort, images are effectively used for healing purposes.
Imagery combined with EFT is an impressive method for relieving disturbing emotions. Since emotions have an effect upon the conditions in the body these methods are rapidly gaining respect in the realm of complimentary healing for physical problems.
The personal imagery that is effective for one person may be ineffective for another. One person may hold the belief that Fire when appropriately controlled is a great resource. Another person may have endured the loss of a home from a fire and be too fearful to imagine that burning away a disease could be a useful image. Yet the first person may resonate with the idea and find it helpful to imagine.
There are universal images and symbols that for the most part seem to apply to each culture, and these are often used in imagery work.
