Energy Healing
Energy is in everything and cannot be destroyed but can be transformed. We are energy beings, and we
talk about this casually without going into the deeper levels of what this implies. We label certain foods as energy boosters and eat energy bars to keep us going during our afternoon slumps. We say our energy is low. We reference how we feel about certain people or places by noting that their energy feels good or that a certain location is a vortex of energy.
In the world outside of our bodies we talk about cheap energy, and clean energy and energy sources that are running low. Our scientists search for new energy sources. Many say we fight wars for the sake of stealing energy resources. Yet our most constant source of energy shines down on the earth everyday. However we have not yet fully harnessed its powers for our comfort and survival.
We continue to search for ways to manage the energy that flows through our bodies and our world.
Energy healing is a reference to the quest to understand and use the steady flow of energy that is known to be in and around us as well as in everything physical.
Some among us can actually see a field of energy flowing in and around our physical bodies as colors. The quality of the color displayed offers clues for understanding the parts of the body that need healing.
But energy is also affected by thought. The mind emits energy vibrations that move from one location to another. It is said that energy follows thought and that thoughts are things. Also our thoughts are key in our wellness or lack of it.
Edgar Cayce, called the sleeping prophet, was considered to be the father of holistic medicine. He recognized that healing was a holistic endeavor. While in a self-induced trance, Cayce discovered his ability to read the conditions of a particular body for the purpose of offering information about the true nature of the health condition; often not at all what logic would suggest. He would refer to physical, mental, and spiritual conditions. Very often his information led to healing while using home remedies or changing mental attitudes. Forgiveness was a reoccurring theme. http://www.edgarcayce.org
We are realizing that our minds and the thoughts we think affect our bodies for good or not good. The linking element is the energy we are emitting and that everything around us is also emitting. We are learning about the nature of healing energy techniques such as the Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) which are said to help often when nothing else does. EFT is based on the idea that our discomforts and diseases are the natural result of a block in the flow of energy throughout our bodies. By stimulating the energy pathway through which energy naturally flows we can experience a release of the block allowing us to feel good both emotionally and physically once again. Though this is not a solution for everything that bothers us, it can do no harm and is simple and easy to apply with no side affects. Other interventions may well be necessary and this is not a replacement for traditional medical care. You must always take responsibility for your body and see your doctor for regular check ups as you decide they are warranted.
